The Mariemont City School District is located on the east side of Cincinnati, Ohio, and includes the villages of Fairfax, Mariemont and Terrace Park as well as the unincorporated areas of Plainville and Williams Meadows. The district can trace its founding to April 14, 1879.

Mariemont City Schools consists of four schools, serving grades K-12 (with independent preschool programs available): Mariemont High School, Mariemont Junior High School, Mariemont Elementary School and Terrace Park Elementary School. Total enrollment is approximately 1,550 students.

The district completed a long-term facilities plan in 2012, with extensive renovations at both elementary schools, construction of a new junior high school building in Fairfax, and renovation of part of the high school building. Mariemont Elementary, Terrace Park Elementary and Mariemont Junior High School celebrated the new buildings with dedication ceremonies on Sunday, September 9, 2012.

To follow up the 2012 facilities plan, the district began planning the Mariemont High School Facility Plan in 2016 with administration, staff, students, parents and community members, along with construction and architect experts. The project began in the spring of 2019 and concluded in the summer of 2021. It allowed the district to provide a 21st century education for its high school students with updated science labs, concentrated collaboration spaces, an improved layout for safety and security, large-group gathering areas and enhanced technology platforms, amenities it could not provide in the almost 50-year-old former building.

The Mariemont City School District continues to achieve excellence and is one of only four district in the state of Ohio to have all its schools named a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education.

Mariemont High School has earned the distinction of being named a Blue Ribbon High School four times, in 1984, 1988, 2001 and 2005. Mariemont Elementary School earned its first National Blue Ribbon award in 2018 with the honor of Exemplary High Performing School. Terrace Park Elementary School has also been named a No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon School of Excellence in 2004. Mariemont Junior High School was the most recent award winner, earning a Blue Ribbon Award and Exemplary High Performing School status in 2021.

The Mariemont High School class of 2023 earned a combined $15 million in scholarship dollars. Eight seniors were named National Merit Scholars from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, including two finalists and six commended students.

 
In 2022, 98 Mariemont High School students earned the designation of AP Scholar by the College Board in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement Program courses and exams. Mariemont High School currently offers 20 Advanced Placement Courses to students beginning sophomore year. 84% of MHS students taking an AP exam earned college credit by scoring a 3 or higher.
 
Mariemont City Schools was named a National District of Distinction in 2018 and recognized for its Warriors BEyond program which seeks to provide more experiential learning opportunities to students. 

Additionally, the State Board of Education of Ohio awarded the district, Mariemont Elementary and Mariemont Junior High School with the Momentum Award in 2018, for exceeding state expectations in student growth.

 

Based on 2022 Ohio state test results, Mariemont City Schools ranked No. 1 in Hamilton County, No. 1 in the region and No. 4 in the state for overall academic achievement. It also ranked No. 1 in Hamilton County, No. 1 in the region and No. 3 in the state for early literacy achievement. MCSD was the only school district with every school scoring in the top-10 in the region for academic achievement. Additionally:

Mariemont City Schools is in compliance with the ESSA requirement to have a plan for keeping schools safe and drug free that includes appropriate and effective discipline policies, security procedures, prevention activities, a student code of conduct, and a crisis management plan for responding to violent or traumatic incidents on school grounds.
