Junior High Power of the Pen Teams Compete at District Championships

Mariemont Junior High School Power of the Pen teams and individuals competed at the district competition on Feb. 1, earning several top-10 finishes.

The Warriors team hosted the competition which features 14 total teams, 68 seventh grade writers and 71 eighth grade writers.

Individually, seventh grade student Audrey Zelinski won the Best Alternate Writer Award while eighth grade students Erin O’Donnell finished fourth overall, Grade Flerlage finished fifth overall and Ellie Haynes finished 12th overall.

In the team competition, the eighth grade students earned third place.

Qualifying writers will move onto the regional competition on Saturday, March 7, at Wyoming Middle School. Mariemont will receive word on which students have qualified for the regional competition in the coming weeks.
